Reporting into the Assistant Director for Procurement you will apply your procurement expertise to deliver cost savings, added value initiatives and risk mitigation on behalf of a broad range of stakeholders and across a range of spend categories throughout the organisation. You will also support the Assistant Director in delivering the organisation's procurement strategy which includes identifying and implementing opportunities for transaction efficiencies, enhancing contracting skills and procurement best practice throughout the organisation, and ensuring compliance with internal procurement procedures as well as the public sector procurement regulations.
In addition to contributing strategic advice and guidance to a range of procurement projects, you will provide the procurement lead on tenders for a range of priority contracts. You will also be involved in a programme to expand the existing e-procurement infrastructure including the implementation of a web-based contracts register and supplier adoption system.
Who we're looking for
The ideal candidate will have experience of procuring a broad range of contracts, but will be particularly strong in the provision of service requirements, especially relating to the management of property. Exposure to corporate spend such as IT and training would also be beneficial. Our client has a large and growing property portfolio and it would be desirable if the candidate has experience of, or would been keen to develop their procurement skills in the direction of property development and construction contracting.
The successful candidate will be able to consult confidently with internal stakeholders in order to understand and develop their requirements, and to turn these into robust specifications that successfully communicate the organisation's need to suppliers.
Ideally, the candidate will be MCIPS qualified or studying towards this, or holding an alternative vocational qualification with either a legal or commercial bias. An understanding of public sector procurement regulations would be advantageous.
