We are looking for a leading light to be Head of Sustainable and Environmental Business within leading international banking Group.
To develop and implement the Bank's environment, climate change and sustainable finance strategy; to integrate these activities into core business, support function and country practices and to manage the governance, assurance and reporting of these activities
To lead the Environment and Sustainable Finance team to ensure effective delivery of strategy through appropriate support to the businesses, functions and countries
To provide thought leadership in the area of Environment, Climate Change and Sustainable Finance to differentiate the Bank as a leader
To manage the Group Environment Committee, facilitating appropriate discussion, directing focus, monitoring delivery and providing support to implementation
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: KEY RESULT AREAS:
• To develop, implement, communicate and report internally and externally the Group's Environment, Climate Change and Sustainable Finance strategy • Strategy agreed by Group Environment Committee (GEC) and GMC, reported in Sustainability Review and delivered and tracked through the GEC
• Business, function and country employees understand the strategy and their role in delivering it
• Commitment at GEC member level to drive change across their areas of influence
• To periodically communicate to and gain input from the Sustainability and Responsibility committee on environment strategy and governance
• To manage the GEC effectively, and that appropriate technical input is made to the Sustainable Business Council • Provide appropriate direction and strategy input to the GEC and SBC to enable a market leading strategy to be agreed
• Facilitate the delivery of the strategies through appropriate technical contribution and intervention.
• To be a permanent attendee of the GEC (secretary), WBSBC and Wholesale Bank Reputation Risk and Responsibility Committee • To inform strategy and decision making
• To ensure strong governance of the Bank's sustainability activities
• To ensure effective delivery across the GEC members
• To facilitate WB and Consumer Bankingidentification, assessment, development and implementation of commercial sustainable finance products and services, such as renewable energy finance, carbon finance and trading.
Who we're looking for
Degree educated minimum - the ideal candidate will come from a background where they are recognised as a leader in the Sustainability and climate change market. This should be along with the ability to advise on sustainability issues associated with a deal (i.e..e.due diligence). Your expertise will also ideally need to include:-
• Strong technical understanding of environment, climate change and sustainability, in the context of both the financial services sector and/or broader sectors (particularly energy, oil and gas, mining and heavy industry)
• High awareness and understanding of the emerging clean-tech, sustainable energy and eco-system service sectors, including market, key players and commercial drivers • Experience of environmental due diligence, policy, management system, reporting, assurance and strategy in multi-national corporate and financial service sectors • Good knowledge/understanding of Bank strategy, network, culture, ways of working and how to get things done effectively • Deep knowledge of principles of effective change management, and experience of leading large scale change management implement •Stakeholder communication, management planning and crisis/ reputation management • Strategic and conceptual thinker with a commercial approach. Ability to develop ideas in a green field environment and translate concepts into practice.
