The position of Energy Specialist is a major role in the operation of the plant in Rogerstone. The main activities of the position will be to develop and maintain a metering and monitoring strategy for the energy usage. As well as improve the overall energy efficiency of manufacturing processes and identify and reduce energy consumption across the whole site.
A key part to the role is effective communication at all levels. You will be expected to liaise with external agencies and organisations such as the Carbon Trust and general utility companies and report findings and factual advice to the business through report generation and presentation skills. In order to service this role properly there will be occasional travel abroad in order to conduct benchmarking on current status compared to other businesses within the group. Ownership of the site energy plan, energy efficiency, energy cost reductions, communication plans are all key aspects of the position as is the education of employees in this field.
Who we're looking for
The ideal candidate will be degree qualified or equivalent in an engineering / energy related field. You will have a previous background in a similar role and have a thorough understanding of the energy sector. You will have a clear understanding of Gas and Electricity fields in order to do this working on your own initiative with strong prioritising skills.
This role primarily concerns cost and energy saving and should feature prominently in all aspects of the role. You will need to be a forward thinker who is a competent strategic planner to continue minimising energy consumption. You will play a major role in company shut downs and start ups where smooth operating equipment is key as down time delays are extremely costly to the business. You will also be strong at building relationships with the senior management team and departmental engineers with good motivational skills to deliver the Site Energy Plan
