Global Purchasing & Strategic Sourcing Manager

Job Role
You will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of purchasing strategies for your specific commodity group(s) across regions with key suppliers to assure that parts in the commodity group are purchased in the most value-added manner and that the relationships are leveraged across the business. You will collaborate with Regional Procurement and Expediting teams and other Purchasing Managers and Buyers to ensure that the sourcing strategy and implementation maximizes global benefits and is concurrently compatible with local and regional needs. Including:

Defining, implementing, and coordinating sourcing strategies for the commodity group to meet customer needs and to obtain maximum value from suppliers;
Establishing and driving effective networks with suppliers, internal customers and buyers;
Collaborating globally with resources to ensure a smooth transition of the signed contract to maximize supplier value; Monitoring spend at a global level and ensuring all purchases follow the predefined standards and processes;

As well as at the negotiating level:

Supporting the Director (or VP) in preparation for vendor negotiations including analyses, alternatives planning and supporting materials;
Leading negotiations for the commodity group and sub-categories under supervision of the director;
Performing market scouting/searches to identify vendors, analyze vendor characteristics: capabilities, goals and objectives and identifying those who best match the parts business needs;
Ensuring contracts are fully executed addressing all terms of the negotiation;
Coordinating and executing purchasing activities, creating orders and closing contracts with suppliers and vendors;
Working with the appropriate global and regional resources to resolve issues if a supplier does not meet contractual agreement or perform at the desired level;
Recognize and appropriately act upon supplier development opportunities;
Build a Total Cost of Ownership / supplier ranking matrix for Commodity group(s);
Lead development of fact-based briefs for supplier meetings;
Track and monitor vendor performance noting irregularities and develop benchmarking analysis for ongoing monitoring and improvements.

Who we're looking for
The ideal candidate will have:

A Bachelor's Degree in Business, a quantitative field, or equivalent;
Experience in purchasing within a global role;
Experience in a management position;
Experience in heavy machine manufacturing, automotive or related industry with understanding of the Parts business;
The ability to articulate, discuss and present performance improvement ideas and sourcing strategies;
Experience in negotiation strategies and tactics;
Specific knowledge of local legal positions for international contracts;
The ability to develop relationships and drive strong networking with suppliers;
Experience with ERP and supply chain systems; SAP preferred
Strong analytical and communication skills;
A demonstrated ability to take ownership of issues, initiate actions, and make effective decisions;
The ability to constructively challenge the status quo, identify opportunities for operational improvement and establish the need for change;
English fluency and additional European language(s) an advantage.
