Head of Finance

The main purpose of is to build and operate efficient process, systems and controls to produce financial information and analyses for internal customers.

To take responsibility for:

• Leading and participating in the range of activities of the team including data integrity reviews, review of business commentary, and analysis / understanding of business results before providing concise business driver focused commentary to internal stakeholders.
• Leading and managing a team who are responsible for managing the business unit finance relationship and who review business unit submissions for all internal and external reporting cycles across all accounting and actuarial reporting bases. Process efficiency and customer service are priorities.
• Building and maintaining relationships with business unit Financial Controllers, proactively working with the business units to ensure the accurate and timely preparation of their submissions.
• Contributing to the strategic development of the operations of the function through embedding a continuous improvement culture including but not limited to establishing process, excellence & efficiency in the delivery of all operational outputs.
• Providing technical advice and guidance to the team and business units and maintaining close relationships with the technical team.
• Act as mentor to other staff in the Group Reporting Production and Analysis (GRPA) department.

Who we're looking for
QUALIFICATIONS
• . Qualified Accountant with substantial insurance experience preferably LIFE INSURANCE
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE
• Overall mix of relationship management skills and accounting and group consolidation process skills including:
• Influencing and relationship management skills essential
• Strong control ethic
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
• Ensure deliverables to very high qualitative standards and against concurrent deadlines
• Proactive stakeholder management skills
• Very sound technical accounting base
• Financial Control disciplines
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• Prioritisation capabilities
• Some knowledge of statutory accounts and management accounts in order to provide cover/back-up for Senior Finance Manager
• Capability to articulate strategic vision
• Strong cost controlling and financial accounting experience in a large multi-national organisation
