This is a confidential appointment for a major European consumer goods business looking to strengthen their commercial team with the appointment of a Head of International Sales, reporting directly to the Head of Sales. This role will be instrumental in developing the key business products through the retail channel and developing own branded NPD with new and existing customers through innovative sales and marketing techniques. This role will take control of operations in the UK, which will be one of the main focuses of the position whilst crucially also managing the sales development of markets across central and southern Europe through management and leadership of locally based territory sales people. Due to this dual focus, the role will be based in the UK with time spent on the continent as part of the role. This role is primarily concerned with winning new business in the retail sector to develop the product presence in new markets through hands on methods as well as direction and mentoring of UK and European sales teams. The company already trades in the UK and across the other European territories but this role is crucial to the ambitious development plans.
Who we're looking for
The ideal candidate will be a highly commercial and experienced individual and it is key that candidates have a full understanding of own label products and development of relationships with retailers and negotiation of supply contracts. Candidates will be familiar with new product development and the ability to pitch and present concepts and product designs in order to win tenders with major grocery multiples. It is important that the Head of International Sales also has a grasp of product and customer marketing to support the sales strategy. Given the nature of the business, this role will also require a candidate with more general management skills and one of the first jobs will be to establish an office in the UK to then run the European sales operation. Ideally the candidate will come from a background involving complicated consumer products but those from food and drink will also be considered if there is evidence of product development and innovation. What's on offer
A basic salary of between £70,000 and £80,000 plus Bonus and Benefits.
