Purchasing Manager

Reporting to the Supply Chain Director, the Purchasing manager will manage a portfolio of direct goods & services primarily in food and packaging. Responsibilities include building key supplier relationships, keeping abreast of commodity market conditions, developing strategies to combat price increases, performing e-auction based tender processes as required, sourcing new suppliers for NPI projects, and finding innovative solutions in a cost conscious environment.
The Purchasing Manager will be involved with negotiating and implementing high value and complex supplier contracts, and be expected to monitor vendor adherence to SLAs.
Objectives of the role include developing a category management approach to purchasing, and achieving financial cost savings in a number of ways that will benefit the company long term. You will also be expected to work in a fast paced, quality controlled environment, and be a key point of contact for internal colleagues ensuring clarity in communication across the business.

Who we're looking for
The ideal candidate will have previous experience running an autonomous purchasing department within an FMCG industry. It is preferable for applicants to possess depth of knowledge about food ingredients and commodity markets, and experience of purchasing packaging is also a distinct advantage.
In terms of skills, candidates must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and provide innovative solutions to various cost & value based purchasing issues. You should be highly tenacious and possess great influencing skills. Applicants must be used to working in a demanding environment, and show good team working ability.
