Chief Operating Officer

Due to the growth of the company and the future plans, the board is looking to appoint a Chief Operating Officer to direct the management and development of the UKCAT programme. This is a new and pivotal position, which will ensure the future success of this exciting initiative. Reporting to the Chair and the board, responsibilities will include:

• Assisting and advising the board in the development and feasibility of new and existing strategies
• Preparation of UKCAT budgets and their management
• Develop and manage relationships with business partners, ensuring understanding and the requirements of UKCAT are met
• Ensure effective communication with all consortium members
• Managing a small dedicated team

Who we're looking for
The successful candidate will be a degree qualified candidate with strong negotiation and networking skills. Whilst previous education sector experience within an operational role, would be an advantage, we are keen to also hear from interested candidates who have an interest in the promotion of education and the development of UKCAT's aim to provide the highest level of customer service. You will be a talented leader and will be comfortable liaising at board level, able to demonstrate a clear track record of success in previous positions. You will have the ability to work under pressure and the confidence to negotiate with high profile stakeholders.

About our client
UKCAT is a registered company, owned by a consortium of UK Universities. The purpose of the company is to design and administer a national test used in the selection of candidates to study medicine and dentistry. The main aim is to inform and improve the recruitment of tomorrow's doctors and dentists in the UK. The test helps universities to make more informed choices from amongst the many highly-qualified applicants who apply for their medical and dental degree programmes. It ensures that the candidates selected have the most appropriate mental abilities, attitudes and professional behaviour required for new doctors and dentists to be successful in their clinical careers. The test is run by the UKCAT Consortium in partnership with Pearson VUE, a global leader in computer-based testing and part of Pearson plc. It is delivered on computer worldwide through Pearson VUE's high street centres.
