The key purpose of this role is to provide procurement expertise to projects, manage defined M&E related spend categories and key M&E suppliers & sub-contractors, both regionally and nationally as a lead buyer, and control the quality of orders placed by the business. The Procurement Manager will support tendering teams in providing key information & advice, and act as a procurement lead on projects. Tasks will include -
• Procurement planning,
• Supplier selection and integration,
• Negotiation,
• Running reverse auctions,
• Documenting contracts,
• Managing supply-related risks,
• Managing disputes and claims,
• Reviewing and recording performance.
As a senior member of the National Procurement team you will be expected to contribute to project procurement strategy, manage Key local & regional suppliers, initiate & lead continuous improvement activities, and be responsible for making significant contractual commitments on behalf of the company.
The role will entail working on local projects, but also acting as a lead buyer inkey spend categories for the National Procurement team. The role has little line management responsibility but the seniority is reflected in the complexity and value of the contracts you will run, and the responsibilities held.
Who we're looking for
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Procurement professional having worked previously in construction or engineering industries. You should have experience of buying materials, equipment, services & subcontracts, preferably with a mechanical & electrical engineering bias.
Applicants must show utilisation of a broad range of end to end procurement tools & processes, applying them appropriately to achieve benefit to the business.
Candidates must demonstrate credibility and integrity, with the desire to succeed & make a difference. Influencing skills and the ability to facilitate in a project environment are important. Successful applicants will be highly numerate and able to perform data analysis, interpreting & utilising information for decision making.
