The purpose of the buyer is to act asprocurement contact for local projects, ensuring processes & procedures meet with company standards, and that purchasing of materials, equipment & sub contracts, is conducted to time, budget and quality requirements.
The role of buyer includes
• Analysing & reporting market information affecting materials supply
• Planning & controlling materials flow to optimum levels
• Correctly understanding & interpreting customer requirements
• Support tendering teams in providing procurement information
• Processing purchase orders & reviewing in relation to contract documents
• Safe disposal of surplus materials
• Using negotiating skills with suppliers in order to continuously achieve excellent customer service
Who we're looking for
The ideal candidate will have purchasing experience within a building & construction environment, preferably in relation to Mechanical & Electrical engineering products. However, other industry backgrounds will be considered. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively at all levels and possess excellent negotiation skills with a common sense approach. Applicants must have a keen understanding of purchasing methodologies and be confident in managing suppliers. You must be able to demonstrate commercial awareness and knowledge of existing market conditions.
