Commercial Specialist Procurement

The Commercial Specialist within Procurement will be covering for maternity leave. The contract will be expected to end July 2009.
You will be allocated a category of high volume low cost spend for which you will be responsible in terms of achieving cost, quality, service & development objectives in line with business strategy.
With an annual purchasing spend of approx £10m, the role will require development and implementation of procurement strategies which maximise efficiencies for the business against commercial targets.

Activities include -
• Analysing the supplier base and making recommendations accordingly
• Selection of new suppliers where necessary
• Using best practice purchasing techniques
• Ensuring vendors meet requirements for service, quality and cost performance
• Communicating effectively with internal stakeholders
• Develop cost reduction strategies
• Preparation and presentation of management reports
• Becoming familiar with commodity market conditions and their effect on purchasing decisions
• Negotiating contracts which consider the commercial constraints on suppliers, and the total cost of acquisition
• Visiting suppliers on site to aid thevendor management processes

Who we're looking for
The ideal candidate will be an accomplished purchasing professional with experience in either manufacturing, heavy engineering or FMCG industry. Applicants will preferably come from a bespoke engineering environment, you will be able influence and communicate to all stakeholders.
Successful applicants will be strong negotiators with experience in supplier development techniques and be able to demonstrate measured achievements. Candidates should be able to demonstrate creative problem solving and logical decision making ability.
Applicants will show self motivation, whilst being able to work well within a team.
You will previously of held a role as either a Buyer, Senior Buyer or Purchasing Manager.

About our client
Cameron manufacture turnkey flow control systems for sub sea applications. Based in Leeds just off the M621 the Purchasing team consists 23 experienced purchasing professionals.
