An outstanding opportunity has arisen within a leading European Manufacturing business for an individual to make a real impact on the future direction and strategy of the business. Knauf has consistently experienced growth in its UK business and has recently expanded its manufacturing capability which is a 24/7 operation. Because of this, a Purchasing Manager, who will implement a more defined and mature strategic function, focusing on areas such as, Raw Materials, Energy and Capital Equipment is required.

Key Responsibilities:
• Accountability for £100 million +, purchasing spend.
• Build and manage the Purchasing Strategy/Policy.
• Develop strategic relationships with the supply base and manage the ongoing performance of suppliers.
• Ensure good purchasing/buying practice is followed by all UK Depts through out the UK organisation.
• Analysis of major areas of spend, i.e. Raw Material, Gas, Electricity and look to improve the Procurement Strategy of said commodities.
• Research and source new suppliers in order to develop and improve product cost, quality, competitiveness and ensure uninterrupted supply.

Who we're looking for
As the ideal candidate you will have a thorough understanding of heavy product manufacturing environments, with a track record in strategically developing purchasing processes. Ideally you will have had previous experience of procuring gas and electricity, but also have had exposure to other indirect services such as Fleet and Capital Equipment.

Other Key Competencies:
• Strong Project Management skills.
• Knowledge of world class manufacturing techniques and standards.
• Sound negotiation and influencing skills.
• CIPS qualified is preferred.
