The International Project and Structured Finance Group is derived from our client's international finance and projects practices. This Group's activity is mainly in the financing of the acquisition, ownership, leasing and operation of assets and projects requiring substantial capital, principally in the energy, transportation and real estate sectors.
The four main sub-categories are Project Finance, Structured Trade Finance, Property Finance and Asset Finance (including aircraft and rail).
The Group provides focus and cohesion to those parts of its finance practice which are outside the main shipping sector at a time when the Firm's reputation as a finance practice has grown significantly.
With regard to project finance, which is one of its disciplines, the team advises sponsors, lenders and others on the application of limited recourse project finance techniques to projects around the world, particularly in the energy sector.
The firm draws on the strength of its broader finance and tax practices, which have been involved in using innovative and sophisticated structured and other financing techniques. Similarly,the group works closely with those in the Firm who have specific sector expertise, whether corporate or finance based. Examples of those sectors include: oil and gas, renewable energy, LNG, mining and conventional power generation.
The core PSG team is based in the firm's London office and, with support from other offices,the firm is able to cover projects in and beyond the jurisdictions in which it is located.
Who we're looking for
Candidates must:
• be a UK qualified practitioner with high quality experience;
• have proven technical skills in one or more of the relevant areas;
• be dedicated, hard-working, creative and fit within a team culture;
• have relevant and significant experience of acting on major, multi-party transactions, domestically or internationally or both;
• have an enthusiasm for the law and its application in practice
Lawyers without experience in project finance and/or structured trade finance will be considered provided they have worked at a respected finance practice.
Our client would also be interested in candidates with limited finance experience, but who have projects experience in the energy sector, amongst others, in the offshore energy, oil and gas and LNG industry sectors (ideally including experience in relation to engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts and operating and services agreements within those industry sectors).
