European Funding Accountant

My client is a large public sector organisation based in Newcastle upon Tyne. They are seeking to recruit a European Funding Accountant on a temporary basis with potential for permanency.

The main duties and responsibilities will include:

- Managing and maintaining effective relationships with colleagues in other Teams / Directorates and
externally focusing on best practice principles of Customer Service.
- Assist in the production of monthly management information by providing consolidating accrual adjustments
- Produce monthly reports on income and claw-back risk assessment and month end control accounts.
- Advise on claims to ensure timely submission of
accurate, comprehensive, compliant claims, reducing the risk of claw back wherever possible.
- Maintain claim log to ensure timely payment of outstanding claims.
- Investigate claim payment hold ups
- Provide relevant input into the year and medium / long term financial plans, two year Annual Budget, Mid-Year Review, by providing forecasts
- Coordinate audits and monitoring visits and implement actions / suggest
improvements as a result of recommendations from audits.
- Management of European funding from various resources including ERDF with added responsibility as the
Specific Point of Contact for these funding streams.
- Review monthly financial information for budget holders, investigate variances and suggest potential
solutions to any anomalies

Who we're looking for
Finalist CCAB accountant or equivalent qualification, with significant experience and additional formal
training and development in skills associated with technical job requirements, financial management,
communication, organising, presentations, accounting systems and external funding providers' requirements
