Key Responsibilities
• Prepare and execute appropriate marketing plans for new and backlist products
• Research, plan and implement direct marketing campaigns and analyse results (The above must be appropriate, timely, cost-effective and accurate; to relate to revenue/profitability and to be within budgetary margins; effectively prioritizing marketing resources)
• Plan, implement and control direct promotion budget for lists
• Monitor and analyse expenditure for lists on an ongoing basis
• Informed input into new product development and list strategy (performance and profitability); market research
• Explore and develop new and appropriate marketing techniques
• Monitor and analyse competitor activity on an ongoing basis
• Supervise maintenance of marketing information systems
• Using coordinator support, supervise review plan preparation; ad placement & production; flyers; appropriate campaigns; conference activity; trade promotion; ensure high standards of author care
• Proactive and responsive marketing to meet customer needs; knowledge of customer base; list research; build partnerships/sales activity with customers in conjunction with Sales dept; conference attendance
• Work with colleagues in other departments to maximise effectiveness through exchange of knowledge and information
• Review best practice and feed back to team and department; feed into Dept. goals & planning
Who we're looking for
The successful candidate will have a degree or equivalent and experience in publishing marketing environment. A working knowledge of the Internet and experience of direct marketing and list management is required. We are looking for an effective communicator with commercial awareness and an innovative and proactive approach to marketing. We need a flexible team player with excellent attention to details.
