The responsibility, under the direction of the Software Team Manager, for an assigned application area or portfolio in terms of: system requirement determination, system proposals, design and development, implementation and training, enhancement and ongoing support, and user liaison.
The efficient management of systems throughout their life-cycle, including: assessment of required computing resources, system investigation, development, implementation, and support, all within agreed budgets for resources and timescales.
• The determination, design, development, implementation, and support of a major application system or a group of significant/complex application systems/subsystems;
• Supervision of junior staff in carrying out the above;
• Assistance in the planning of staff development and the provision of staff training and guidance;
• The planning of tasks, assessment of required resources, determination of timetable;
• The monitoring of progress and the use of staff and other resources;
• Day-to-day customer liaison and design proposals.

Who we're looking for
The post holder will honour the current ICT standards, and procedures for project management documents according to the PRINCE 2 methodology, time recording, and preparing documentation for their assignments.
High proficiency in at least one of the system environments and application programming languages used within ICT; these are currently:

• Analysis - Conversant with such techniques as SSADM and UML
• Programming - Familiar with Visual Basic 6 and/or Visual Basic .NET
• Structured and object oriented methods - Microsoft COM and .NET development environments
• Web based development using IIS/ASP and ASP.NET
• Pharmacy system - MSM/MUMPS
• Relational Databases - SQLServer with SQL
• Operating Systems - Windows,
• Business Objects
• Integration - Ensemble, HL7
