An Operational Strategist is required to liaise with various IT and business groups support the clients regional businesses to analyze its global reporting control infrastructure. It provides the chance to get to know all of the different product lines within the firm.
Businesses supported by the Operational Strategist team include Equities, Fixed Income, Listed and OTC Derivatives products, covering a range of functions from Sales and Trading through Ticket Booking, Confirmation, Settlement, Ledger Booking, Asset Servicing, and Fee processing.
This is accomplished by:

• Developing and applying testing approaches and frameworks that enable the proactive detection of reporting gaps and compliance with front office trading rules;
• Reviewing new and existing data flows and applications, IT databases, and infrastructure for the purpose of improving reporting controls;
• Performing in depth data analysis to identify reporting issues and areas for structural improvement;
• Performing risk and control assessments;
• Assisting with incident analysis and follow-up; and
• Lending expert opinion to firm-wide regulatory reporting and transactional control activities.

Who we're looking for
You will possess the following skills:
• Strong relational database skills with advanced knowledge of SQL
• Experience with a number of programming and scripting languages (e.g. C, C++, Java, Perl etc.), preferably in a UNIX environment
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Strong analytical skills with an ability to understand complex workflows and large amounts of data
• Strong ability to produce detailed documentation around analytical work performed
• Understanding of one or more product areas would be a plus (Equities, Fixed Income, Derivatives, Currency, Commodity, Asset Management products)
