As the media relations manager you will be responsible for managing a press officer, and leading the press office to protect and enhance the reputation of the organisation with print and broadcast media.
Traditionally the media office has been quite reactive, but they are now looking to work on a more proactive basis as well, and you will be leading on media campaigns to enhance the organisation.
Who we're looking for
You will need to have good experience of working in a press office on high profile issues. The other key skills required include:
• The ability to articulate complex issues with clarity
• Strong skills in building and maintaining relationships with journalists and other key organisations
• An understanding and appreciation for the broader communications field
• The ability to predict and evaluate the media behaviour in particular situations - particularly how the agendas of various stakeholders dictate behaviour
• The ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain a sensitive approach when faced with demanding or difficult calls/ers
• A strong team player and a strong manager
