The key to the role is owning the commercial relationship between our client and the with key music record labels and DVD studios. The role requires a mix of partnership building and strong negotiation skills.
The role involves the following areas;
• Negotiate existing or new label terms/contracts at Sales Director Level
• Building strong relationships with valued music label and DVD partners
• Managing label release schedules and building inspiring campaigns to enhance the companies market segment share of the music and DVD market
• Working with the merchandising team to drive effective campaigns and rate cards for labels marketing budgets.
• Managing label marketing budgets for the company through rate cards or through innovative and creative means to enhance sales and spend.
• Liaising with the Buying and Inventory teams to assist in sensible decision making processes for managing stock and inventory
• Being the central point of contact for the label for all issues, from accounting through to operational issues.
• Increasing on site music selection by discovering new product or labels for the category as well as working with existing labels to enhance on site selection
• Defining and driving cost saving initiatives
• Working with the Global Vendor manager teams to define and execute best practice.
• Coordinate with Accounts Payable on vendor payments to ensure agreement terms are executed accurately
• Being an Ambassador within the industry to enhance the position of the company.
Who we're looking for
The ideal candidate will come from the media industry, specifically within DVD or Music. You will have sound commercial negotiation experience and a proven track record of success in previous roles. Key attributes include:
Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant experience, or Masters degree and 2+ years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working knowledge of Music and DVD industry, both physical and digital, including contacts.
Knowledge of the buying trading function of a retailer / supplier relationship.
Strong influencing skills and negotiation skills.
Project/Program Management - ability to make trade-offs between schedule, resources and scope in order to deliver on project.
Understands P&L and more complex financials (e.g., contra-rev, co-op).
Ability to understand needs of the business and external partners, and negotiate to influence outcomes (e.g., better placement). Able to set expectations with partners.
Understands fundamental operations of large-scale production website
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Keeps others informed of information that contributes to the performance of the team, department or company.
