The Purchasing and Supply Chain Manager is responsible for a small team, who collectively manage the purchasing, inventory and planning for the organisation. The remit includes sourcing & selection of suppliers, managing relationships and developing improvements with suppliers, negotiating contracts and SLAs, and managing the performance of the supplier base. In order to gain maximum OTIF deliveries to customers, the inventory must be managed to the optimum level including consideration to faster/slower moving lines, managing obsolete & slow moving stock out of the business, and ensuring minimal lead times for customers. Planning of production, and forecasting should be managed to provide a measurement to the business and aid in purchasing decision making.
The Purchasing & Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for establishing KPIs to measure supplier performance, and putting tools in place for improvement activities. Tasks will also include developing processes & systems of work, to ensure common practices, setting strategic policies & directing the team.

Who we're looking for
Candidates will ideally come from a fast paced, high volume, manufacturing environment although value added distribution/wholesale experience will be considered if the person's skills are well matched. Applicants should have the ability to adopt a broad view of the wider Supply Chain and implement strategic solutions to enable more efficient & effective ways of working. To be considered, you must have a proven track record in purchasing, including cost savings, and also have knowledge and experience of the wider supply chain including planning & inventory specialisms.
This is a role for a hands-on person with the ability to lead a team and think more strategically. Preferred skill set will include -

• Leadership and management skills
• Excellent negotiator
• Tenacious and hard working
• Educated to degree level, CIPS qualified or similar
