Technical IT Manager

The role of a Technical IT Manager at AW Champion involves the day to day management and running of all IT operations for the business. This typically includes the following key areas of responsibility:
• People Management.
• Technical Expertise.
• Service Delivery.
• Developing IT Strategy.
• Project Management.

The Technical IT Manager will have two direct reports that are also based in New Malden and operate the service desk and cover 1st and 2nd line problems. Part of this role is to act as a 3rd line technical resource for IT issues whilst training the team where necessary. It is expected that the team run a very structured helpdesk with agreed SLA's and KPI's to maintain a positive perception of IT.

There is a continual need for the business to streamline it's systems to ensure the best possible customer experience when ordering online, over the phone or face to face. With this in mind it is important to maintain constant communication with the business to identify areas of improvement and to develop strategy. The Technical IT Manager will design and plan all project related work whilst proceeding to carry these projects out using appropriate structure and methodologies.

Who we're looking for
The ideal candidate for this leading timber manufacturing and retail group will possess demonstrable experience of the following important areas:
• People management of a small team.
• Influence and responsibility for the direction of IT within a company.
• Responsibility for a business critical infrastructure with a minimum uptime of 99.99%.
• Project delivery.

Technical Expertise:
• Microsoft Windows Server 2003.
• Microsoft Terminal Services.
• Microsoft SQL Server (Build & Administration).
• WAN/LAN Infrastructure (including IP VPN).
• Laser and Dot Matrix Printers.

It is also important for the successful candidate to possess the following personality traits:
• Proactive.
• Problem solver.
• Personable and approachable.
• Excellent communicator.
• Responsible.

As well as these skills it would also be very beneficial if an individual possessed an IT qualification like an MCSE or Prince2.
