The Application Development Lead is a key IT Management role that will be accountable for strategic planning and operational delivery of applications development to the Business. Responsibilities will include supporting high-impact, large scale, business and technology transformation projects together with lower scale business-as-usual change. The position holder will partner with other key roles (e.g. business owners, IT leadership, governance, solutions architects, QA and testing, etc.) to implement application development strategy. This role will provide guidance and strategic oversight during application development phases.
Within the application development framework, this role will be responsible for evaluating, prioritising and overseeing delivery of development requirements in a predominantly Oracle COTS environment. The position holder will have responsibility for managing the core application development team as well as coordinating activities across all other internal and external development groups. He/she will ensure the effective application of standards and effective use of approved methodologies and tools. Other key responsibilities will include the identification of skills and training requirements and the development and implementation of team development programs. This role is based in the North of England.
Who we're looking for
Required:
• A good understanding of Retail (Supermarket), FMCG or equivalent industries
• Good understanding of one or more Retail Industry domains, how technology solutions can play a key enabler role and, specifically, the role of custom/bespoke development in these environments.
• Knowledge of Standard application development methodologies and best practice, preferably those specializing in Oracle environments (AIM, OUM, DWM, DSDM etc.) or similar COTS based solutions
• Effective management, communication and problem-solving skills
• Bachelors Degree preferred, but equivalent qualifications and exposure considered
• Exposure in application development environments in leadership roles, preferably in the retail sector.
• Retail Industry exposure
•Exposure insupporting both packaged and custom applications.
• Exposure indirecting a team supporting multiple projects and multiple applications across a variety of technology platforms.
• Exposure inplanning and managing all phases of systems development
• Exposure of functional and technical design and configuration/development, particularly in Oracle Retail and eBusiness Suite
• Exposure in a QMS environment.
• Document Management exposure.
