Permanent ⁄ £35000 - £38000
Updated September 23, 2008
This is an exciting opportunity to join a Senior Management team within an NHS Healthcare setting,
committed to the implementation of Lean working practices across the organisation. Whilst initially based
within a Pathology environment, the role will extend across all clinical and non clinical areas of an acute
hospital Trust. Working in partnership with a market leading U.S. Lean Consultancy, exciting opportunities
exist for career progression by supporting external business development.
In taking this forward we have an initial requirement for a CI Manager to take a lead role in developing,
directing and managing Lean programmes and training to all levels. The CI Manager will work in an
expert role to organise and facilitate continuous improvement activities and coach employees in order to
develop internal Lean capability. With a commitment to achieving long term success, the CI Manager will
be afforded the opportunity to develop a CI Team from the further recruitment of other Lean Technical
Specialists.
Working on significant change projects, the successful candidates will need in-depth knowledge and
experience of continuous improvement processes and practices coupled with a level of business acumen
that permits you to quickly identify and facilitate opportunities for change that can support the
organisations Lean transformation.
1. Development and continuous refinement of the Lean implementation plan.
2. Initiate and maintain an effective 5S programme; own this programme as a foundational programme
for all Lean improvement activities.
3. Measure and document progress towards meeting objectives related to Lean processes and
programmes.
4. Provide oversight and training in the area of Lean Enterprise Philosophy, tools and techniques, and
continuous improvement practices.
5. Identify cost reduction opportunities and long-term improvement opportunities.
6. Propose, plan for and manage Kaizen events.
7. Utilise other continuous improvement methods (e.g. Six Sigma) to close service and business
performance gaps.
Who we're looking for
We are looking for candidates who are ideally degree educated with a proven record of success in
engaging, inspiring and coaching cross functional teams, and who are able to demonstrate commitment
to Lean Principles through their experience. Previous experience in a Healthcare setting is not essential
