Commercial Manager

Reporting into the Senior Commercial Manager, working as part of a team of Commercial Managers, responsible for ¼ of the commercial business in Hertfordshire Highways, amounting to approx £14m turnover per annum. With the support of the team the role of the Commercial Manager is to advise the functional management teams on the commercial and financial aspects of specific contracts in order to avoid and/or mitigate any adverse risk to the business.
General contractual issues
Ensuring processes and procedures are in place for commercial and contractual matters
Trend analysis
Audit findings
Corrective action
Creation and delivery of management information
Assistance in contract/tender preparations
Contribute to the development of the contract and contribute to the setting of budgets.
Ensure that Functional Managers keep to budgets and submit reasonable projections of costs.
Regular communications with Hertfordshire County Council including monthly meetings.
Regularly meet with subcontractors and external suppliers
Participation in the commercial negotiations that support the success and growth of the business.

Who we're looking for
Excellent communication skills
Strong numerical ability with relevant degree
Excellent negotiation skills
Excellent organisation and management skills (including line managing a team that may not be based at your location)
Ability to present effectively business cases to senior managers/board.
Commercial creativity
Be able to balance risk, reward and competitive edge
Full driving licence
Recognised qualification within quantity surveying
Recognised qualification in accounting
Knowledge of joint ventures/partnerships
Knowledge of local government and highways infrastructure
