Reporting to the Director of Design, based in Manchester, you will need to be able to demonstrate experience delivering high quality cost effective design solutions and manage these successfully through the approval processes. This will be achieved by outsourcing the actual design, so a true understanding and contacts in the architectural practices would be helpful. Typically looking at projects between £20m - £300m you must have experience leading internal and external teams making sure the client's invested interest is protected and the design is up to end users strict standards so not to occur heavy penalties.
Who we're looking for
The successful Design Manager will need to demonstrate the following:
• Experience of PFI environments essential. (Ideally BSF)
• Thorough knowledge of design standards for education projects.
• Architectural background with key contacts within local architectural practices.
• Establish and mobilise a suitable professional team to develop the design of future projects.
• Manage inputs of Estimators and Planners from business units into the design process.
• Provide support and advice to construction delivery teams.
• Develop designs in conjunction with the bid teams.

What's on offer
Basic salary £55,000 - £60,000 plus bonus, car allowance, private healthcare and pension.
