You will be responsible for the management of a practical and cost effective day to day maintenance engineering service to maintain and improve the production capacity of the South Yorkshire site and its assets, with due regard to safety, quality and environmental issues.
Your responsibilities will include -
• Continuous promotion of best H&S practice by the timely completion of audits, SOP reviews, quality reviews, accident / incident investigation etc.
• Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures including Health and Safety, Quality, H.R. & environmental.
• To actively promote, support & engage in continuous improvement projects and ensure full sustainability of these projects through best operational practices.
• To ensure all levels of management operate within the management development framework, with an objective of all employees working towards the clear overall business objectives . (OGSM system)
• To consistently demonstrate a clear leadership example to others.
• Identify, manage and deliver Site Engineering Projects.
• Deliver capital Projects.
• Ensure all statutory maintenance is complete to meet legislative requirements.
• Target to improve machine availability year on year through a continuous improvement approach.
• Manage the development and performance of all personnel within your area of responsibility, including identifying and organising training requirements and keeping accurate training records.
• Manage and develop the existing Planned Maintenance schedule to improve machine availability.
• Plan, manage and deliver all maintenance activities associated with site shutdown periods.
• To provide progress reports where necessary on the priorities and activities of the engineering team.
• To provide monthly reports on capital and revenue spend for all significant maintenance projects, and reporting on resource allocation to such projects.
• Discipline / grievance/ Appeals, up to and including dismissal.
Who we're looking for
• Ideally degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering and working towards Chartered Engineer Status.
• Previous experience in an Engineering Management role, providing leadership to up to 25 people.
• Clear evidence of managing a department. where team leaders and supervisory management control the craft teams, is essential.
• Previous experience of Planned Maintenance systems.
• Strong ability to plan & prioritise heavy and diverse workload of self and others, also demonstrating sound problem solving abilities, organisation skills and a keen attention to detail.
• Excellent communicator - both written and verbal - at all levels, demonstrating the ability to influence and negotiate where necessary.
• A passionate and self-motivated approach to work.
• Ability to deal with sensitive information confidentially.
• Willingness to work flexibly, involving working outside normal office hours and some travel to other sites within the Group.
