Reporting into the Trading Manager, your role will be to select, negotiate the terms and make available ranges offering outstanding quality and value, whilst ensuring that packaging, merchandising, availability and efficient selling are fully considered. The main accountabilities of the role will include:
• To maximise sales of products within remit.
• To ensure maximum profitability is generated by the sale whilst remaining competitive.
• To have a clear understanding of product range in terms of quality, cost and direction.
• To develop ranges and products to suit customer needs.
• To manage the selection, development, production and launch of Morrison label products.
• To negotiate a strong promotional package to meet agreed targets.
• To manage the supplier base to achieve costs and other benefits in the best interests of the business.
• To communicate your objectives with work colleagues, stores and suppliers.
Who we're looking for
To be successful in this role, you will need current or previous experience within a buying role, with particular advantage given to those who have had experience within the buying of general food or FMCG goods in a retail business. You will need to demonstrate strong negotiation, communication and influencing skills and the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. A good eye for detail, a professional manner and computer literacy are also pre requisites for this role.
Ideally you will be educated to degree standard or equivalent and have a high degree of numeracy. If you have working knowledge of the retail industry within your current or previous positions then this would certainly be advantageous.
