Engineering Manager

Reporting directly into the Site Leader, this role is responsible for leading the engineering function, encompassing management of all maintenance and capital engineering activities on site. This role will define and implement engineering strategy and, as part of the senior management team,contribute to the overall business plan.Additional daily activity will include the following:
• Implementation of and adherence to engineering procedures
• Provide selection and control of all engineering contractors
• Provide and manage process engineering activities on site
• Liaise with R&D staff on site and in Cambridge as required to ensure timely planning and execution of projects.
• Co-ordinate cross functional activity to prepare and support the development of new process on site. This will primarily involve R&D, EHS, Engineering, Production, QC and QA.
• To support EHS regulatory issues by providing detailed information to EHS Manager for engineering activities. To ensure all risk assessments and method statements are undertaken as required.
• Ensure the provision of appropriate documentation to support all engineering activities.
• To ensure annual reviews of all maintenance activities are conducted.
• Needs to make sure rapid and appropriate plant configuration is designed and implemented to agreed timescales to support business needs.

Who we're looking for
Due to the specific nature of this opportunity, applicants must fit the following criteria:
• Educated to graduate level in mechanical or chemical engineering, preferably chartered.
• A proven track record within manufacture of pharmaceutical APIs and fine chemical intermediates to appropriate standards of cGMP, EHS and Quality
• Working knowledge of key regulatory aspects e.g. HSE and Environment Agency.
• Evidence of working cross functionally and with multidisciplinary teams
• Knowledge of putting together commercial contracts
• Knowledge of engineering validation in particular IQ, OQ, FATs and SATs
• Excellent process engineering skills
• Excellent project management skills (Critical path, cost control etc.)
• Self motivated with the ability to work independently and under pressure
• Assertive with the confidence to challenge others
• Excellent team/ people management skills
