This is a fantastic time to join the organisation as it enters an exciting growth phase and looks to challenge many of its existing marketing practices. Legacy income is already a vital revenue stream for Guide Dogs for the Blind and you will be responsible for increasing it from £35 million to £50 million over the next 5 years. You will lead a team of marketing professionals in delivering the marketing strategy which will ensure that Guide Dogs for the Blind is the Charity of Choice for people leaving a gift in their will.
The main areas of the role will be:
• To develop the long term marketing strategy and budget to maintain and grow legacy income, as well as increase income from Commemorative Giving and Tribute Funds.
• Use the full marketing mix to achieve the organisation's goals: PR, direct marketing, online, events, advertising, collateral etc.
• To work with the Direct Marketing and Major Donor Managers and their teams to develop the supporter journey, and ensure that there is a consistent approach to supporter relationship management.
• To work with the Marketing and Communications Departments to ensure integration of the legacy marketing strategy with the overall marketing strategy over the 5 year planning cycle.
• To maintain market awareness by involving Guide Dogs in appropriate charity sector initiatives, such as Remember a Charity, and research projects which enhance the organisation's profile and knowledge.
Who we're looking for
The successful applicant will need to be able to demonstrate the following:
• A solid track record in Fundraising / Charity environments (experience of Legacy would be a bonus)
• A sound understanding of the role of marketing within the Charity sector
• Experience of having previously managed a team
• Excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to influence at all levels, including Trustees and Directors
