Principal Consultant - Early Talent

Reporting to the Talent Strategy and Programmes, the role of Principal Consultant - Early Talent is accountable for the design, implementation and evaluation of DWP's early talent programmes. With full responsibility for these high profile programmes, this person will be managing a sizeable team along with significant budget responsibility. Agreeing with the business the scale and timing of these programme, the post holder will ensure robust selection processes are in place that feed the leadership pipeline with the right candidates whilst maintaining a diverse representation of candidates. To make sure that talent pool members are receiving effective developmental support this person will act as a career coach, identifying new opportunities and co-coordinating moves in and outside of the DWP.
The key areas of focus are:
• Developing the early talent strategy, creating programmes in line with business requirements
• Commissioning the development of effective assessment strategies to identify early career potential
• Supporting the talent communities, providing career advice and coaching to help people progress their careers across DWP
• Supporting DWP summer placements and interns by ensuring a supply of interesting development opportunities
• Contributing to the DWP Diversity Strategy, ensuring talent practices address under-representation

Who we're looking for
The successful candidate will have a demonstrable track record as senior talent practitioner who has a depth of knowledge and experience in delivering complex talent programmes, assessment, development processes and 1-2-1 coaching. The ideal candidate will have a background in working in large, complex organisations and will have managed structured talent programmes from entry level up to junior management level. This person will need to have solid stakeholder management skills, be confident in their approach and have exceptional planning and organisational skills. A strong people manager is crucial due to the size of the team. A British Psychological Society Level A & B (Assessment) qualification, or equivalent is highly desirable.

What's on offer
£43,200-£53,480 (National rates) plus central government benefits £47,550-£58,070 (London rates) plus central government benefits. Flexible starting salary may be available subject to experience.
