You will report into the Divisional Finance Director and be responsible for both divisional financial reporting, and the financial control and support of companies in Ireland, South Africa, Spain and Chile. Although the role will be based in Walsall it is envisaged that there will be a degree of international travel.
Though you will only be directly responsible for managing one local member of staff you will also have responsibility for supporting the finance teams in the overseas businesses. As a senior member of the finance community you will be expected to develop and maintain strong relationships with the Managing Directors of the various businesses, Divisional Head Office staff and also key individuals at Group.
Duties will include, but not be limited to, the following:
• Review and distribution of internal monthly management accounts and related reporting to Divisional Board
• Provision of commentary and analysis of operating companies' management accounts, with explanations of variances against budgets and forecasts
• Review and submission of monthly financial reports to Group Head Office, together with related reporting
• Review and finalisation of annual budgets and quarterly re-forecasts
• Liaising with, advising and assisting Managing Directors in the financial control of their operating companies
• Assisting Managing Directors with financial elements of new business plans
Though the role has an undoubted technical focus, the successful candidate will also have ample opportunity to get involved with, and influence, business operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a well qualified accountant looking to develop their career in an international business.
Who we're looking for
You will be a qualified accountant, probably an ACA or overseas equivalent, who is technically up to date and proficient in international accounting and consolidation. The role demands an individual who will drive world class systems and controls and have a passion for financial excellence.
It is important that you will have previous experience in an international business, working with people from different cultures. You will be a natural communicator and take responsibility for mentoring and developing more junior members of staff whilst having the gravitas to influence people at more senior levels. The ability to build effective relationships is critical.
In addition to being able to meet the technical demands of the role you will also need to possess strong commercial awareness and have the desire and intellectual capability, to implement change both within finance and the wider business.
