Communications Officer

The successful Communications Officerwill support the planning, implementation, reporting and promotion of initiatives to ensure the achievement of successful campaigns and internal communications through the following;
1. Contribute to the delivery of the departmental business plan, providing professional / technical expertise to support operational priorities and Agency policy.
2. Guide, advise and support internal clients on communications activities ensuring that communications are in line with best practice and timeframes.
3. Advise, influence and manage content input from the region on Intranet and Internet sites, ensuring it is in line with best practice and Agency policy.
4. Lead and manage publishing programme for the region, ensuring publishing activities support campaigns and internal communications. Manage regional contracts with external suppliers in line with Agency procurement policy.
5. Manage projects or perform the role of project team member, to apply project management skills, local knowledge or technical skills to the solution of problems.
6. Provide technical expertise and implement relevant elements of marketing mix to ensure the success of internal communications and campaigns.
7. Develop and maintain a strong customer focus to ensure effective relationship building and partnership working to achieve environmental goals.
8. Encourage and develop a safety conscious culture within the team to deliver work programmes without risk to the health & safety of the team or any other individual.

Who we're looking for
The successful applicant will have;
• Education to degree level or relevant vocational training in a related discipline.
• Ideally a communications qualification or at least evidence of a commitment to advance technical expertise through qualifications/professional development.
• A track record record of delivering Communications Campaigns.
• Excellent ability to advise & support campaigns and internal communications activity.
• A proven track record of scheduling resources and monitoring and reporting on progress of campaigns.
• Evidence of delivering events and other elements of the marketing mix as part of larger internal/external campaigns.
