Divisional Head of Legal

International impact, In-House innovation, Inspiring opportunity

London

Permanent

Updated December 27, 2009

Reporting to the General Counsel and Company Secretary, you will lead and manage a team of in-house solicitors. You and your team will be
tasked with building strong relationships across the business and you will assume a hands-on leadership role. From the outset you will be
heavily involved in the delivery of major, complex infrastructure projects across the UK and you will operate in a regulated environment involving
multiple stakeholders and complex agreements. You and your team will negotiate and draft commercial contracts, provide wide-ranging
commercial advice, liaise closely with other legal teams and ensure that best practices are shared across the business.
As well as your day-to-day duties, you will be expected to provide a clear and sensible vision to the team around you. Your team will need to be aware of key business drivers at all times and legislative issues that could affect the company. You will delegate workload accordingly and work closely with other Heads of Legal to ensure regular transfer of knowledge and strong communication across the business. You will work with people at all levels and with different professional and cultural backgrounds, which will include interacting with individuals working in numerous and different industry sectors. As a result, first-class
communication skills are very important.

Who we're looking for

To succeed in this role you will already be an in-house solicitor and have proven experience of leading teams and delivering large scale
commercial projects. Experience of the Energy sector would be beneficial as you must be comfortable managing both a team and a
high workload in a multinational, multicultural business environment. The projects you will be involved with are high value, complex and have
multiple stakeholders. To manage these effectively you will be technically strong, highly organised and able to demonstrate that you are able to
get the best from the people around you by providing a clear vision and clear leadership at all times.

About our client
Our client is a multinational business with extensive operations across Europe and the UK. The business is a market leader and has been established for decades as an innovative and commercially astute organisation that provides services to millions of people. Despite the challenging economic climate, the company continues to perform strongly, developing new and emerging markets as well as maintaining their existing traditional presence. The company is now entering an exciting new period of growth thanks to recent strategic moves and is in an excellent position to capitalise on its previous successes and strong market position. Due to this continued growth, a new opportunity has arisen for a Divisional Head of Legal to lead and manage one of their core business units. This will be a high-profile position within the organisation and represents an incredible opportunity for someone seeking to make an impact and develop the professional careers of others as well as themselves.
