Finance Director

Media

Central London

Permanent ⁄ £60000 - £65000

Updated February 24, 2010

I am recruiting a truly exciting, commercial Finance Director position for an SME media business based in central London. This is effectively a new full-time role in the organisation, and symbolises a desire for Finance to underpin the commercial strategy and direction of the company.

As the Head of a small finance team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the department, including motivating and mentoring staff, production of monthly management and yearly statutory accounts, and all other statutory returns. Perhaps more interestingly, you will act as a business partner, providing sound advice (with supporting numbers) on how to help other departments maximise their commercial effectiveness. This will involve scenario analysis on ways to improve revenue streams, identify potential future acquisition targets or expansion opportunities. The canvas is relatively blank, and for the right individual this represents a rare opportunity to really impact the direction of a small, but very well established business.

But make no mistake - this is a hands-on role. Tasks need to be completed, and the culture of the business means employees do what is required to finish the job. If you feel routine and elementary tasks are beneath you, you need not apply.

Who we're looking for
You MUST be an accountant with a PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION (ACA / ACCA / CIMA), and have carried out a broad role in Finance previously. Other attributes will be:

• Worked for a Marketing or Communications based business with Project Accounting.
• The ability to think creatively about business growth, and apply sound accounting to support arguments
• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills - able to develop meaningful internal and external relationships quickly
• Proven ability to lead and to influence change
• A flexible approach to work, and a passion to drive value
• Experience in a projects based business INCLUDING multinational / multicurrency transactions
