People Responsibilities:
• Direct line management responsibility for Accountants.
• Overall management responsibility for Financial Support staff.
• To ensure that the team are bound by the financial reporting requirements both internal and with statutory implications.
• Motivate, lead and develop the team to achieve excellence.
• Set objectives for people through performance management that include defined measured deliverables and provide feedback on performance through regular appraisals & meetings.
Financial Responsibilities:
• Provide accounting services for use by MDs and managers in planning and controlling their businesses, this includes financial accounting, management accounting, forecasting, budgeting and control systems.
• Produce all financial reports including monthly and annual accounts for the Group.
• Provide appropriate evidence to support decisions taken by the credit committee.
• Advise MD and business of the financial implications of proposed courses of action.
• Provide day to day financial support to the business unit MD and Executive Directors to ensure they comply with internal and external procedures and processes.
• Align all finance activities to enable delivery of the Groups KPI's.
• Act as a member of the senior management team, not only contributing on financial matters but on all business matters.
• Ensure that appropriate assumptions are made in relation to the business' financial plan and annual budget proposals. Provide advice to Executive Directors on these matters.
• Advise the Executive Directors and other senior managers on major financial issues which arise and which are outside the agreed boundaries of management authority.
• Plan and manage the businesses tax liabilities under existing and proposed legislation. Evaluate the tax liability impact of contemplated courses of action, minimise the tax burden and deal with tax authorities.
Who we're looking for
The candidate will be a qualified CA.
Ideally the individual will have experience of working within a construction or related environment.
This individual must have strong presence and be technically competent in all key traditional financial delivery areas as documented above.
Strong communication and presentation skills are essential and the capability to inspire and motivate teams is crucial.
