The appointment of Technical Director is an important and significant addition to the Management Team of Rotork Gears. The appointment has come about following the refocus of Executive duties and the Managing Director's determination to continue the focus on developing the Division's R+D activities. Moving forward the MD, with support from his executive team, fully support the appointment of a new executive colleague to fill this role and lead the R+D function. The division faces a growing range of current and planned product developments, which necessitates a capable and knowledgeable Technical Director to provide the required management drive and focus.

Reporting to the Managing Director (Rotork Gears), this exciting new role presents a great opportunity for someone with vision to make their mark in setting and driving forward our technical standards. The right candidate will enjoy huge scope for innovation, to enable customer and market needs to be profitably met.

Who we're looking for
Suitable candidates will probably come from a quality-focused engineering or manufacturing company, with a philosophy of multisite sophisticated product improvement / re-engineering.

Key criteria will be the technical management of both legacy and new product portfolios. In addition, they will

• Instill customers and end users with confidence and trust in the technology of our products.
• Be commercially astute and strategically aware of business drivers in our industry sectors.
• Be able to manage themselves and others across geographic, language and cultural differences.
• Posses a mechanical engineering background; with a proven track record in the design and successful introduction of competitive mechanical products, preferably in the Valve industry and preferably with a clear understanding of mechanical worm, bevel, spur and planetary gearing and/or iron and Aluminium castings.
• Be a capable team manager with ability to drive results and performance to achieve tight deadlines.
• Be a strong leader and have effective communication skills.
