Management Accountant (Systems)

You will play a key role supporting the Head of Finance and the Senior Management Accountant in the preparation of management information and budgets, as well as being responsible for the overall maintenance of the financial system databases and enhancing these systems to deliver productivity, analysis and reporting improvements.Following a change in thecore finance system, the need has arisen to find an accountant with a mix of strengths who wishes to build on their track record in financial systems work and management information exposure. The main responsibilities are as follows:

MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING

• Preparation of monthly management information and updating/creating new standard reports.

• Collation of the annual budget including maintenance of Excel templates and uploading the budget to the finance systems.

• Updating of budgets held in the finance systems to reflect growth/other changes .
• Allocation of overheads and other centrally managed charges across over 350 cost centres.

• Assist with the analysis of the draft accounts as part of the month-end process, to ensure a high degree of accuracy.
• Take forward the development of analysis and modelling tools to improve the speed and effectiveness of data analysis and reporting


FINANCIAL SYSTEMS

• Take responsibility for the maintenance of the core financial databases, including maintenance of the nominal ledger and ensuring that security and access levels are appropriate.


• Recommend structural developments to the finance systems to provide opportunities for more in-depth analysis of performance.


• Act as first line of support for the finance team when system issues arise, being the main contact point with software specialists on operational issues. This involves liaising with internal and external specialists as required, ensuring that issues are resolved within agreed timescales.


• Provide support to the Head of Finance and other members of the finance team in leveraging ways to use the finance systems to reduce manual processes and enhance analysis. This will involve taking responsibility for specific projects from time to time, working closely with users to ensure their needs are met.


• Provide training of staff in the use of financial systems and related tools.


Who we're looking for
The ideal candidate will be CCAB qualified/finalist and have an impressive track record in a Management Accounting environment with an extensive exposure to financial systems and reporting tools, such as XL Q&A. You will have the ability to guide the business through any finance systems issues and provide support to the budget holders. You will act as an 'internal consultant' bridging the gap between the needs of the finance team and internal & external IT support staff and need to have an approachable personality, able to engage effectively with individuals at different levels.
