Private Practice

London

Permanent ⁄ £70000 - £100000

Updated December 12, 2011

Our client's integrated financial services regulatory practice (covering both advisory and investigations/enforcement work) is top-ranked for contentious work, in both the UK and Asia. The practice has grown significantly over the past five years and we anticipate further growth in the future. As a result we need to recruit regulatory specialists with a particular focus on contentious work in order to meet growing demand for our services from existing and new clients.

Main areas covered | regulatory investigations and enforcement actions | advice on compliance risk management | banking and regulatory disputes | financial crime and market abuse | commercial disputes involving financial institutions | public law

The role will focus primarily on providing financial services clients with advice, assistance and representation in dealing with regulatory compliance problems, including:
• advising clients on compliance risk management, systems and controls issues in the context of regulatory developments;
• advice on responding to compliance problems, including conduct of reviews or internal investigations (whether or not at the request of the regulator)
• advice and representation during regulatory investigations and enforcement actions -
• representing clients before financial regulators and law enforcement agencies and in proceedings before regulatory tribunals and in the courts
We seek to ensure associates obtain a broad range of relevant experience in order to develop their legal skills and expertise and meet the needs of our clients. Therefore the role will also, on occasions, involve:
• working on civil disputes/proceedings in the financial services sector (particularly those raising regulatory issues)
• criminal investigations/proceedings involving financial/corporate crime and corruption issues
• working closely with our public/administrative law practice
There is a strong international element to our work and the role may involve working with or in other jurisdictions.

Who we're looking for
• 2(I) degree (minimum) from a respected university.
• Solicitors' examinations passed first time.

We require a lawyer who has gained the necessary experience for the position advertised. The PQE identified on this advertisement is a guide only and does not preclude applications from those with more or less PQE.
