Interview with Matt Ritchie – dealer principal (UK and Ireland), Scotia Plant

Scotia Plant is a capital equipment solution provider that specialises in supplying machinery to the construction industry and other sectors. Matt Ritchie speaks to Stuart McRobbie, of Michael Page Sales, about his role at Scotia Plant and what the future holds for the company.

Q: When did you join Scotia Plant?

I joined Scotia in July 2011 and have already had my first promotion.

Q: What does your remit cover?

As dealer principal for UK and Ireland, I have nine direct reports in sales and a further 15 reports in after-sales, parts and service.

Q: How is your company dealing with the challenging market conditions?

We listen to our clients’ needs and find them a solution that fits their requirements. A quality product, competitive prices and ‘cash-flow friendly’ finance packages have helped our clients get what they want within their means.

Q: What do the next five years hold?

We deal in all of the Doosan Bobcat & Terex products which are extremely competitively priced against competitor machines. We expect the market exposure of these to grow and hope to open at least one depot a year in this period. In addition we always have our ear to the ground for acquisition opportunities.

Q. Message to the world…

The ‘badge’ of Doosan Bobcat might not be known to all; however its quality is as good as any brand on the market with keener pricing.
