Our goal is to build an inspirational team who are themselves inspired by their mission, their work, their work conditions, and their personal development.

Our close-knit team of around 60 is led by the inspirational Jeremy Leggett, founding Director of the world's first private equity fund for renewables ( www.newenergiesinvest.ch ), author of The Carbon War and Half Gone and formerly Scientific Director of Greenpeace International's Climate Change Campaign.

Our team are without exception inspired by our business. In a recent (Sep 2005) survey of staff attitudes (see principle 5: Participation), buy-in to our mission scored 8.2 (all scores out of 10), our values 8.1 and our working principles 8.2. All of these scores were in the top 7 of a total of 70 questions.

Working conditions at solarcentury are hard working but fun. The first consultation in March 2003 identified working hours as a priority for improvement and as a result we now have a flexible working policy. All staff may work any hours they wish provided that they perform their job and don't let their colleagues down.

The highest rating in the September 2005 survey was awarded to 'accountability' which scored 8.7, confirming our 7th working principle to be a key element of solarcentury's business.
