Learn about Twinings

Learn all about Twinings from the people who work here.

Claire Hebron - "When I first came for interview I was amazed at how many different products they have here at Twinings, I thought it was just black tea because that's what I drink, Earl Grey, but they do chocolate, they do iced tea, they do infusions, they do benefit blends, green tea, all sorts, and then of course there's Options and Ovaltine."

Sarah Reardon - "Right from the start I really got into it, there was lots of work to do and I was given projects of my own to really push forward, be the champion in the company for. So it wasn't sort of pigeon holed into 'you're a marketing assistant, you can't do anything', we actually got given real jobs and real projects."

Steve Mann - "It seemed very natural for me to come back to Twinings after graduation. I had a lot of responsibility here and I got on very well with the people, and I wanted to get into sales because of my placement. I spent a lot of time with the sales team, interacting with them, and that made me decide I wanted to be in sales."

Claire Hebron - "What I found was a fantastic bunch of people, who were really friendly, and just get on brilliantly. There's a real philosophy that runs through the business about doing things properly and treating people with respect."

Steve Bungay - "It's very good to build up relationships that you know are going to stay and you're going to carry those forward so the perception is there's not a high turnover of staff here which is excellent. People value the company. The company values them. So you build up good working relationships and you carry that forward."

Paul Robertson - "At Twinings it's like, its tradition is like a family environment, not only is every day different but we enjoy what we do, you know there's fun between the teams, there's a lot of banter that goes around not just at management level but between shop floor and management. I've gained a lot of friends since joining here."

Steve Mann - "Something I've always enjoyed is the interaction with people, and I have a real mixture of customers, and I think we've got a really good relationship and its great to be able to watch those relationships build over time."

Steve Bungay - "I've worked already with the Swiss this year on a project, moving on to Australia next month, then have North America, Thailand, Philippines, France and China. So, quite a broad aspect."

Sarah Reardon - "I did a few weeks in both finance and supply but have also now working in sales for six months to really understand customers and actually meet customers which initially is quite scary, but now a lot easier."

Steve Mann - "Sometimes we do have a few problems with customers, whether it's pricing issues or deliveries that aren't made on time, but I think that's all part of the experience: it helps you develop as a person."

Claire Hebron - "Having gone from being quite a small cog in a big wheel as an APM or as a Brand Manager suddenly here you're right in the thick of it and everyone from brand manager, assistant brand manager and marketing assistant up to managing director, we all know each other really well. There's lots of informal discussions going on and everybody really listens to everybody's ideas."

Steve Bungay - "This is one of the first companies that I've worked for recently where I've had an opportunity to go off and, for instance, attend training courses in the first twelve months. And I've found that Twinings is very good at recognising personal values of their employees so enabling us to train and grow."

Steve Mann - "Twinings are a great brand. They're a brand that everyone's heard of. I'm very proud to say that I work for Twinings. They give you a lot of support through your future career and I don't think there are any barriers to stop you doing that."

Steve Bungay - "There is a huge opportunity to grow at Twinings irrespective of the experience and skill sets that you bring in."

Paul Robertson - "I was looking to sort of further myself, I'd just done an NVQ. It was obviously an organisation that was willing to develop their people and send them through programmes, so, for myself, it was a chance to progress even further."

Steve Mann - "I think on placement I was given an opportunity to prove myself."

Sarah Reardon - "You don't want to sit on the sidelines for a long time and it really showed that I could actually do something and really made a difference."

Claire Hebron - "Working at Twinings feels like you're really working for a start up company. It's a company that's growing at such an extraordinary rate. And yet you're working on a brand with such heritage, you know, tea for the queen, well it's not just that any more...it's moving into really exciting new areas and the scale of growth and change for both the brand and the company is fantastic."

Steve Bungay - "You have to come in with a level of experience but if there are gaps in that we can help you grow and develop and you will stay in the company and retain a broad base of experience across a number of applications."

Paul Robertson - "Within Twinings our vision is to develop our people to become a manufacturing centre of excellence. If you want to progress, if you want to get on and you're motivated, Twinings is very much wanting to take you where you want to go."
