Demand grows in Marketing & Sales

Marketing

The main sector focus for Marketing Scotland last year was FMCG, Financial Services and the Leisure Industry.

Happily, the need for top-drawer Marketing professionals across Scotland has never been stronger, especially for those candidates with financial services experience.

Senior end candidates are also seeing growth, with clients now beginning to reinvest and focus on marketing. This is obviously very good news and indicates that the market is finally leaning towards the candidate themselves, offering them more choice when looking for potential opportunities.

Sales

Historically, in periods of recession, Sales tends to be one of the first divisions to get hit; and yet ironically, in times of growth, it is also the division that almost always shines.

Recent experience has proven this beyond all doubt, as compared to 2009 our Sales business is in complete turnaround when it comes to demand for first class Sales candidates.

Our FMCG division is out-performing other sectors; whilst in the last few months our Financial Services and Business Services divisions have undergone spectacular growth. Contrary to popular belief up here, there is a genuine shortage of high calibre Sales candidates in the Scottish market place currently looking for new roles. The best performing candidates are sometimes lucky enough to be involved in multiple vacancies and furthermore, buy back scenarios from their current employers are becoming more and more common.

The competition is growing, making it is even more important for clients to keep interviews tight and to actually sell their businesses to prospective candidates.

The market place is definitely developing and becoming more upbeat within the mid level Sales environment, but the senior end of the market is still slow. Hopefully the movement in the market will filter up and start moving things up at the senior end.
