About DWP

The Department for Work and Pensions impacts millions of people everyday. It is a major enterprise employing around 97,000 people, with operations across the country. A complex and changing organisation, it provides a wide range of services through its businesses. Just about everyone in Great Britain will deal with the Department or one of its businesses (Jobcentre Plus or Pensions, Disability and Carers Service) at some point in their lifetime. DWP is here to promote opportunity and independence for all through modern, customer-focused services. We help people to achieve their potential through employment, so that they are able to provide for their children and to work and save for secure retirement.

DWP is at the heart of modernising service delivery in Government and is increasingly under pressure toactively delivering a range of services to benefit customers, jobseekers and employers as a result ofin the current economic climate. In responding to these newer pressures, while continuing the drive for efficiency gains across Government, DWP is undergoing significant transformation.

HR is a key enabler in this process, providing technical and strategic leadership to the Department-wide change agenda while also embracing change in its own structures and processes to better serve internal customers. As a result of these changes we are recruiting to a number of new and existing roles in our HR function, all of which present unique opportunities in a large-scale and complex environment.
