Our community work is also very important to us and across all four of our airports, we're involved in community projects. We recognise that we are part of the local community wherever we are based and have a desire to give something back. That's why we are involved in so many local activities.
We have a long history of working in close and active partnership with our local communities through many areas such as education, community initiatives and supporting the Arts.
One example is Childflight, a children's charity established in 1987. We've been proud to provide flights and holidays for sick and deserving children who might otherwise miss out, including children who need medical treatment overseas or who are socially deserving.
Covering the whole of the North West, the charity is based at Manchester Airport, with links in Manchester, Blackpool and the Wirral.
Over the years, we have worked with many local organisations to enable everyone to benefit from our expertise and resources.
We encourage our colleagues at MAG to participate in community initiatives, particularly where they have the opportunity to pass on their skills and learn new ones. Most of those who take part in these activities find it a highly rewarding experience. In fact, we have established a network of Community Champions right across our business, encouraging members of our teams to get involved in volunteering in local projects to enhance their personal development and provide real, sustainable benefits to our neighbouring communities.
At Manchester for example, the neighbouring area of Wythenshawe will be directly linked through the creation of substantial new green spaces, public transport improvements and a range of jobs and opportunities for local people.
