Following the highly successful suit drive designed for women with Smart Works last year, specialist recruiter PageGroup has now partnered with London-based charity Suited & Booted to advance that support to unemployed, low-income men.
In supporting Suited & Booted, PageGroup can now give that same empowering and transformative experience to men who need it the most. So far, PageGroup offices across the UK cleared out their wardrobes and brought in over 600 items of men’s clothes including suits, ties, shirts, cufflinks and shoes.
Maria Lenn, Chief Executive at Suited & Booted, said;
“Our mission is to help men back into the workplace by giving them the clothes and the confidence they need to succeed at interviews. Around 1,000 vulnerable men passed through the fitting rooms of Suited & Booted last year, many of them ex-prisoners, but also recovering alcoholics, long-term unemployed, those grappling with mental health issues and ex-military men who have found it difficult to adapt to civilian life.
“Without the continued commitment and generosity of donations from our partners such as PageGroup, we simply could not help transform the lives of so many of our clients. A new suit can equal a new start.”
Amanda Salaam, Operating Director for Michael Page Human Resources, said;
“By partnering up with Suited & Booted, we are able to give men the self-esteem and confidence necessary to succeed proficiently from the interview stages through to working in an office environment. At PageGroup, we are committed to supporting men and women on their career journeys and are always looking for opportunities to give back to the community.”
