15 July 2014: As part of its Women at Page initiative, the specialist recruitment company Michael Page in South Africa recently hosted a first business event for thirty three executive women at an elite country club in Johannesburg.
Launched in 2012, Women at Page is Michael Page`s global gender diversity initiative which aims to improve gender balance and inclusion at all levels in the organisation.
The inaugural event consisted of Michael Page c-level clients from various industries and aimed to bring together like-minded successful women to share career journeys and discuss diversity at board level.
The event was led Pat Thaker, the Regional Director of Middle East & Africa Economist Intelligence Unit, as well as Michael Page`s own Natasha Netha, Katherine Karlsen and Amelia Jacob who shared their own career paths and views on the industry.
“It was terrific to see so many successful and passionate women discussing issues which are important to all of us. Furthermore, the event was a terrific networking opportunity for Michael Page and our clients and we truly value their insight and time. Feedback from all clients was extremely positive and we hope to conduct a second and equally successful lunch in the near future,” Mrs Netha said.
Within the past 12 months, Women at Page has drastically improved internal shifts in culture and workplace inclusion, as well as decreasing staff turnover rates. Additionally, Women at Page has achieved several industry accolades, including Global Diversity Award from Employers Network for Equality & Inclusion and Commendation from Top Employers for Working Families in the Best for All Stages of Motherhood category.
After such a roaring success, Michael Page South Africa is already scoping future events for executive women in business and will continue to improve its Women at Page initiatives.
