Job Description



The key responsibilities of the Accountant:

  • Develop, coordinate, and execute the college's financial plans, budgets, and forecasts in alignment with organisational goals and priorities.
  • Monitor and analyse financial performance against established budgets, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions when necessary.
  • Generate accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, to aid decision-making by college leadership and stakeholders.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to provide insights and recommendations for optimising resource allocation and improving financial efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, accounting principles, and governmental guidelines.
  • Manage internal controls, oversee audits, and maintain accurate financial records in accordance with legal requirements and industry standards.
  • Contribute to the development of strategic financial plans aligned with the college's mission and long-term objectives.
  • Assess and manage financial risks, proposing risk mitigation strategies to safeguard the organisations financial stability.
  • Collaborate with departments to assess funding needs and ensure efficient utilisation of financial resources across the institution.
  • Foster collaboration with other departments and stakeholders to ensure financial transparency, alignment, and understanding of financial goals.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and the implementation of best practices to enhance financial operations.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and technological advancements in finance to drive innovation and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with various departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making across the organisation.



The Successful Applicant

The successful Accountant will have:

  • Professional accounting certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA) highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in financial management, preferably within an educational or similarly complex institutional setting.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial software and tools, coupled with exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex financial information effectively.
  • Educated to degree level.
