About Our Client
Based in central Taunton, this accountancy practice experience very positive growth and planning for their future ongoing success. The firm acts for a wide spectrum of clients, very wide ranging in size and industry, acting for SME, OMBs, corporates, sole traders and partnerships. Clients range from smaller sole traders, partnerships and limited companies into the millions of turnover, across unincorporated and corporated SMEs, OMBs as well as acting for larger corporates in excess of the audit threshold in turnover. With services focused across audit, accounts, tax, vat, payroll, etc alongside a growing requirement and an increase in demand from their clients looking for advice on systems help, looking for advice on implementing new processes, procedures and improving efficiencies on their Bookkeeping requirements with a lot of the firms larger clients asking for help on this side. As a result of the changes forthcoming on this, along with a huge increase in a move to Cloud accounting systems onto Xero/Quickbooks etc, the business is developing its accounts/ payroll and Bookkeeping services arms of the business where this role will sit.
Joining as an Accounting Technician - Accounts/Bookkeeping/Payroll based in the firms centrally based Taunton offices, you will carve a key position here, working closely with the accounts team, taking on the responsibility for wide ranging accounts preparation, payroll and bookkeeping service provision to a mixed client base. You will be joining at a key stage in the ongoing development of this service line, with the associated progression and development potential this presents, with genuine potential to develop your accounting skills and become a key addition and highly valued member of this growing team and business. You will be encouraged and supported to develop your technical skills and background further, with the support of experienced, highly regarded and qualified professionals around you.
The Successful Applicant
Whilst holding an AAT qualification may be a bonus /pursuing ACCA, an experienced only background, if supported by a relevant career history developed within an accountancy practice background, with a technical skill set across a mix of accounts preparation, payroll, bookkeeping skills, is equally of interest as well.
You will have anything from 2 - 3 years, or significantly more experience within accountancy practice, in your career so far, as an accounting technician, assistant accountant, senior bookkeeper etc. Individuals with a background working within the accountancy practice sector, for a firm of any size, preparing accounts/management accounts, VAT returns, payroll, bookkeeping and other services, for a mixed client base of sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, will be of high interest. Any experience of Sage/Quickbooks/Xero and other software will be advantageous whilst training and support will be on offer to help the right person get up to speed on unfamiliar systems.
