The result will be an accessible, convenient location to meet the public's modern-day needs, right in the heart of Stevenage.
As an Assistant Estate Surveyor you will play a strong role in supporting the Head of Estates and Estates Surveyors.
You will be supporting the management of the Council's commercial property portfolio of shops, industrial units, ground rented properties and other non-housing assets, as well as marketing and letting vacant units, negotiating rent reviews and lease renewals, dealing with tenancy issues and maintenance issues, taking action in respect of rent arrears, and ensuring that budgets are met.
Be part of the development and implementing processes for assessing the Council's assets to ensure that they are being used efficiently and effectively, and developing proposals for dealing with properties that are under performing.
Work with an exciting team, where you will be creative and motivated to ensure you achieve your best. You will support and help deliver a range of corporate projects, such as Corporate Landlord, locality area reviews, working with officers from other Services where required.
The Successful Applicant
To succeed, you will have the ability to negoatiate commercial deals including rent reviews and lease renewals, as well as good working knowledge of Landlord and demonstrate good time management skills. Good interpersonal skills are also a key for this role as you need to be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. You should also be able to develope effecive internal and external working relationships.
Building relationship is an important part of the Assistant Estate Surveyor role. Provide strong team culture, including championing corporate activities and initiatives that cross service boundaries and implementing effective joined up approaches and solutions to meet the Council's vision and values.
Education and Qualifications
- Have minimum of 3 A Levels or equivalent.
- Must have a commitment to Continuing Professional Development.
- RICS accredited degree in Estate Management or Surveying Proven experience in valuations and Estate Management - Desirable.
- Full clean driving licence.
- Understanding of Asset Management Planning Experience dealing with non-domestic rating appeals - Desirable.
