About Our Client

Michael Page are working with a large, Leeds based client within the waste management industry, recruiting for a Buyer.

Job Description

Process all purchase requisitions: accurate and timely processing of all purchase requisitions according to corporate procurement policy. Verifies that terms are as per contract (e.g., pricing, delivery, payment terms).

Develop fact base for assigned spend categories, including a detailed understanding of descriptions of the product and service offerings and capabilities of current suppliers.

Ensure internal customers are complying with contracts by using preferred suppliers and buying items for which there is contracted pricing.

Relationship management with key suppliers, supporting activities may include ordering, communication of demand/volume/delivery time changes, issue resolution, sharing of end-user feedback, follow up on backorders, etc.Working with the business team members and the international category management team to develop and execute sourcing strategies, execute requests for proposals, bid analysis, contract negotiations in partnership with the legal team and sourcing recommendations.

The Successful Applicant

Broad extensive knowledge of theories and techniques of a function.
Education equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Operations Management or Supply Chain Management, or the equivalent in related work experience. Chartered Institute of Supply Management (CIPS) certification or working towards.

Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Excel, Access, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint with working knowledge of Project. Experience with Coupa is a plus.

Strong knowledge of strategic sourcing processes, especially strong technical and analytical skills.

Well-rounded general business acumen.

Strong negotiation skills (focused on partnerships).

Excellent communications skills, verbal and written.

Proven organisational skills (Focused on multi-tasking and project management).

Leadership experience in a team-based environment.

Presentation skills (focus on presenting to diverse groups - CEO to Drivers).

Coaching, training, and team member development skills.
